Notebook_webThe Australian Computer Society (ACS) and the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) have both released sustainability reports in the past two weeks.  The AIIA report anaysed the capability of Australian ICT firms to deliver environmental ICT solutions, while the ACS report focused on analysing the Australian ICT industry's energy consumption and carbon footprint.

The awards are designed to reward excellence in Australia and New Zealand development of technologies that promote sustainability, and are sponsored by Australian Computer Society, Dimension Data, Austrade, Connection Research and NZ Trade and Enterprise.

12% Improvement in Australian Green IT Implementation

This is the overall analysis from the annual Green IT survey conducted by Connection Research in Australia, which indicates that implementation of five key areas (Lifecycle, End User, Enterprise, Enablement and Metrics) collectively improved over 12% in the past year.

education_webThe Australian university wars last week picked up steam with the University of Melbourne announcing their collaboration with the State of Victoria and Bell Labs to develop a $10 million operation called the Centre for Energy Efficient Telecommunications (CEET).
