On 12th November, the Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) released their 70-page Green IT ebook summarising the key issues surrounding green IT in the IT industry. Although the eBook provides tips and outlines of quick wins, it mainly focuses on case studies of AIIA members that have implement some form of green IT and is targeted at IT businesses between 10-100 seats.
Examples of the case studies, include:
- Intel - Sustainable Program Office with a focus on energy consumption reduction and data centre efficiency
- Toyota - Green IT Roadmap across three main Victorian sites
- Corporate Express - design and development of a "highly efficient" data centre with a 70-80% power/space/cooling reduction
- Connex - carbon management system for NGERs compliance and business efficiency improvements
- Dell - implementation of 1E desktop management software to achieve US$1.8 in savings per annum across 50,000 PCs
