In September last year we published an article outlining how the IT industry could utilise a new funding program developed by NSW Department of Environment & Climate Change (DECC).  EDS applied and won...

EDS won $14,500 for their Power Factor Correction installation...

"This project will see energy efficiency improved at EDS, a data centre in Burwood, following investigations undertaken as part of the company's Energy Savings Action Plan.  Power Factor correction equipment will be installed around the site to maximise efficiency and reduce peak demand. Improvements to the server equipment will save energy and costs and pave the way for future savings as equipment is upgraded."

But its not over yet - this was just Round One.  Expect to see Round Two announced in the near future.  We encourage all IT departments, CIOs, ISVs, hardware vendors and systems integrators alike to submit a funding application to innovate your own energy efficiency or water saving projects.
