Even Microsoft are saddling up the green horse and getting on the eco IT bandwagon.
I have been waiting for Microsoft to do something specific (anything) around eco technologies and here it is - for ISVs they have created 'The Ingenuity Point' - a competition running from June 26 to October 31 this year, that focuses on making the planet a better place to live (through technology innovation). There are three verticals in the competition:
- Healthcare
- Education
- Clean Technology
In the Clean Technology space the challenge is to create "smart solutions on a global scale that protect the environment while allowing for innovations and adaptation to an ever-changing marketplace, climate and world." There are monthly winners and the overall winner gets flights and accommodation to attend the Imagine Cup in France in 2008 - the theme of which is 'The Environment'.
To enter the competition or for more information, go to http://www.theingenuitypoint.com/main/default.aspx.
The Imagine Cup is designed to encourage students to develop new technology and innovation. For more information see http://imaginecup.com/.
