The Australian Computer Society (ACS) has launched a new online/distance education Green IT course called "Green ICT Strategies", which forms one of the electives available for the Computer Professional Education Program.
The two core goals of the course are to help ICT professionals estimate ICT's carbon footprint and help them identify ways to reduce it. The course, designed by ACS Fellow & ANU Adjust Senior Lecturer Tom Worthington, take a term (approximately 13 weeks) to complete and is accredited by The Skills Framework for the Information Age (SIFA).
The comprehensive course content covers introductions to Green ICT strategies, technical strategy & planning (including Data Centres, materials use and method and tools), Business/IS strategy & planning (including business process improvement and enterprise architecture) and Procurement management and support.
