greenhealth_webNSW Health this week published a tender calling for interest in helping them investigate co-generation or tri-generation systems that would "optimise environmental benefits through high utilisation and efficient power and thermal generation".

The proposed project would be located in Orange Base Hospital, in the Central West region of NSW and would be approximately 250kW plant.  The tender stated that the project would form the basis of an ongoing program through NSW to implement similar facilities.

And although the goal of the project is to reduce environmental impacts, NSW Health failed to specify the requirement of the selected service provider to have proven their own commitment to the environment as part of the published selection criteria.

The news comes as National Australia Bank spoke at the Green IT Week Virtual Event this week on how trigeneration in their data centre saves them up to 20,000 tonnes of carbon per annum, with an expected ROI in five years.
