Six Universities recognised for their Green IT projects

studentwebIn the United Kingdom (UK), six universities and colleges have been recognised for their outstanding implementation of Green IT initiatives.  The Environmental Association for Universities and Colleges (EAUC) is hosting their 14th annual "Green Gown Awards", with a focus on twelve areas including carbon reduction, continuous improvement, courses, research, student initiatives, and green ICT.

The six institutions nominated for the Green ICT awards include:
  • University of Hertfordshire - The RARE-IDC Project (Reduction and Re-use of Energy in Institutional Data Centres)
  • University of Liverpool - University of Liverpool PowerDown
  • Warrington Collegiate - IT is Green at Warrington Collegiate
  • University of Gloucestershire - Hardware for hard times
  • National Oceanography Centre, University of Southampton - IT Energy Savings Without Spending a Fortune
  • North Warwickshire & Hinckley College - Power IT Down!
