This week was marked International Green IT Awareness Week by ComputersOff.ORG, a not-for-profit headquartered in Australia. The core activity of the week was a three day virtual event attended by 300 people across 35 different countries, however a number of news services and organisations also took up the call for a more environmentally sustainable IT through blog posts, articles, internal initiatives and the publication of books, including:
- Interview with Glenn Allan, Data Centre Manager at National Australia Bank who said with Trigeneration, their data centre saves 20,000 tonnes of carbon per annum.
- Interview with James Arnold Taylor, Voice Artist for Obi-Wan Kanobi, who personally supports the week.
- Cutter Consortium publishing a range of materials including a series of blogs, offering a complimentary copy of "Environmentally Responsible Business Strategies for a Green Enterprise Transformation" and 50% discount on the report "The organisational benefits of green IT" (use the code: GREENITWEEK),
- IT Governance in the UK publishing the second edition of their book Green IT in Practice
