The report was produced by The Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) with Sustainability Victoria. Some of the key findings include:
- Most companies lack information about how they can reduce emissions and how climate change affects them;
- For 45% of respondants the most critical priority was identified as managing electricty use.
- 78% of companies believe they had to take responsibilityto reduce carbon emissions.
- 1 in 3 companies have written an environmental policy.
- 1 in 2 companies audited their electricity use over the past 3 years.
So what has this got to do with IT? If you work in a systems integrator, an application developer or internal IT department, then these are your customer/employer's concerns and therefore are an area of opportunity to apply appropriate technology to and educate your customer on reducing IT expenses to help their overall business policy.
