OSIsoft have been developing realtime monitoring software for over 25 years including software that can manage and monitor energy consumption.  In this webcast, posted on the Microsoft MSN site, they discuss PI (one of their core products) and what it does.

One of the key features of PI is that it integrates into SharePoint and Microsoft Office to provide portal and reporting capabilities on energy consumption.  The key focus for this application currently is the monitoring of energy consumption in manufacturing, utilities and water management companies.
